About Our Club
The Pacific Beach Tennis Club (PBTC) began in 1961 when a group headed by Dr. James Grant raised sufficient funds to construct six courts on land that the city of San Diego provided. Subsequently, a small clubhouse and two additional courts were added as well as the present lighting system. The club has a nonprofit I.R.S. status and all funds received are used for supervision, maintenance, tennis activities and capital improvement expenditures.
Presently, The Pacific Beach Tennis Club is full of vibrant leagues, mixers, and a nationally recognized junior program. We are known to have the best lights in town for night play and host the annual USTA Pacific Beach Adult Open in May and the Powell Blankenship Memorial Junior Open in June.
For more information regarding our USTA league please follow the link. We are running a spring 2015 league.
Note: For non-members please review our league policy before contacting captains.
Members are you interested in playing coed tennis and playing in the evening? Well you are in luck! PBTC has room for teams to play on Monday or Thursday nights. Put your own 3.5 team together (or we can help you) and play on Monday evenings. If you're interested in playing the 4.5 level, there is room for 4.5 teams to play on Thursday nights. Teams consist of 6-10 male and female players. These WTT teams would start in the Fall, so there's time for you to start putting your teams together now. For more information, contact Lynda Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Women's leagues will resume in the fall.
