Our Club

The Pacific Beach Tennis Club (PBTC) began in 1961 when a group headed by Dr. James Grant raised sufficient funds to construct six courts on land that the city of San Diego provided. Subsequently, a small clubhouse and two additional courts were added as well as the present lighting system. The club has nonprofit I.R.S. status and all funds received are used for supervision, maintenance, tennis activities and capital improvement expenditures.

The club is governed by a seven member Board of Directors which elects its officers on an annual basis. Terms of the Board members are staggered and elections are held in November of every year. Any member who is eligible to vote in club elections and is in good standing is eligible to run for election to the Board. In recognition of the time spent on club activities, Board members are not required to pay the annual dues.

Our Facilities

Located adjacent to the Mission Bay Golf Course, the club has 8 well-lit courts, a small clubhouse which offers racquet string services, pro shop, and dressing room.
